A wall clock carved from genuine Kashmiri walnut wood, engraved edge to edge with the chinar leaf.
Product Overview
At 20 x 17 inches this is a statement piece for a living room, entrance hall, office cabin or hotel lobby. The dial sits inside a hand engraved chinar border, finished naturally so the wood's own grain stays visible.
About Kashmiri Walnut Wood
Kashmir is the only region in India where walnut trees grow at the altitude required for dense, close-grained timber. The wood is naturally rich brown, takes fine detail without splitting, and darkens gracefully with age.
Craftsmanship
Carved by hand in Kashmir. Each cut is made individually with chisels, so no two pieces carry an identical grain pattern or carved line. The finish is natural, leaving the wood's own colour visible.

Story Behind the Craft
Walnut wood carving settled in Kashmir centuries ago and stayed, largely because the Valley grows the timber the craft needs. Walnut at Kashmir's altitude is dense enough to hold a chisel line without crumbling, and no substitute behaves the same way under a blade.
This piece carries the chinar leaf, the motif most closely tied to Kashmir's landscape and its craft tradition. The work is slow: the carver marks the wood by hand, then removes material in stages with chisels of decreasing width, deepest cuts first and fine detail last. No machine produces this surface.

FAQs
Is this real Kashmiri walnut wood?
Yes. It is solid walnut grown in the Kashmir Valley and sourced directly from artisan workshops, not veneer over MDF or particle board. The grain runs continuously across the carved surface.
Does the clock come with a battery?
It uses a standard single-cell battery. Batteries are not shipped due to courier restrictions on cell transport; any standard battery of the correct size works.
Is it ready to hang?
Yes. There is a mounting point on the back. Given the size, fix it into a solid wall or a rated anchor rather than plasterboard alone.
Is the carving done by hand or by machine?
Entirely by hand. Small variations in line and depth between pieces are normal and are evidence of hand work, not defects.
How do I clean and maintain it?
Wipe with a dry soft cloth. Never use water, chemical cleaners or spray polish. Keep away from damp walls and direct sunlight.
Can I order this in bulk?
Yes. We supply hotels, corporate gifting teams, retail stores, interior designers and export buyers. Hand carving needs lead time on larger orders. WhatsApp +91 7006586760.
