The mehraab is the arch — the same pointed arch you see in Kashmiri shrine doorways and Mughal architecture. Here it is chased into copper by hand, one strike at a time, with a naqash's chisel. Look closely at any two bowls and you will find they are not identical. That is the proof they were not stamped out by a machine.

In Kashmir these bowls carry the wazwan — rista, rogan josh, gushtaba — from kitchen to trami. In your home they work just as well for curries, raita, desserts, or dry fruits on a festive table.

Are the bowls lined inside?
Yes. The interior carries a traditional tin lining (kalai), which is the standard Kashmiri method for making copper safe for acidic and salty food.

Will all six bowls look exactly the same?
Close, but not identical. Each bowl is engraved by hand, so the depth and spacing of the arches vary slightly between pieces.

Is this suitable as a wedding gift?
It is one of the most common wedding and housewarming gifts in Kashmir — a six-piece copper set is considered a complete gift on its own.

Can I put these in a dishwasher?
No. Dishwasher detergents strip copper and damage tin lining. Hand wash only.
